ORIGINATING IN INDIA OVER 5,000 YEARS AGO, YOGA TRANSLATES TO "YOKE," OR "UNITE" AND IS INTERPRETED AS THE UNIFICATION OF MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT. WHILE IN THE WESTERN WORLD WE LARGELY SEE YOGA DEFINED AS 'EXERCISE' OR 'MOVEMENT PRACTICE,' IT IS ACTUALLY MUCH LARGER - YOGA IS A WAY OF LIVING. ASANA, THE PHYSICAL POSTURE PORTION OF YOGA, IS JUST 1 OF THE 8 LIMBS OF YOGA AS DESCRIBED IN THE SUTRAS OF PATANJALI;

WHY PRACTICE YOGA?

IN AN ESSENCE, WE ARE SPIRITS OF THE UNIVERSE WHO WON THE LOTTERY AND EARNED A TICKET TO EARTH TO EXPERIENCE THE UNIVERSE IN 3-D, VIA THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE. IN ORDER TO LIVE IN HARMONY, THIS SPIRITUAL SELF MUST BE HONORED, LOVED, AND NURTURED. YOGA IS ONE METHOD OF DOING THIS. A CONSISTENT AND INTEGRATIVE YOGA PRACTICE CALMS THE MIND, ENCOURAGES SELF-INQUIRY/DISCOVERY, ALIGNS THE BODY AND MIND WITH THE TRUE ESSENCE OF SELF: THE SOUL, ALLOWS FOR DEEPER MEDITATION PRACTICE, REGULATES THE BODY'S NERVOUS SYSTEM, LESSENS HUMAN SUFFERING, AWAKENS PRANA (LIFE FORCE ENERGY), SETTLES MIND-CHATTER KNOWN AS CHIITA, AND CONNECTS THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE TO DIVINE SOURCE ENERGY.

PRAKASA YOGA OFFERINGS:

TO GIVE EVERY CLIENT A PERSONAL, SAFE, AND ALIGNED SESSION, PRAKASA IS COMMITTED TO WORKING WITH CLIENTS PRIVATELY, OFFERING SESSIONS IN THE HOME OF THE CLIENT/AN AGREED UPON LOCATION, OR ONLINE VIA VIDEO-CHAT. PRAKASA IS EXCITED TO OFFER 1:1/2:1 SESSIONS, SMALL GROUP SESSIONS OF 3-5 PARTICIPANTS, AND LARGE GROUP SESSIONS OF 6 OR MORE PARTICIPANTS. PRAKASA CAN ALSO COME TO YOUR OFFICE WORKSPACE.

STYLES OF YOGA OFFERED CURRENTLY INCLUDE:
CLASSICAL YOGA, SLOW FLOW, VINYASA FLOW, AND YIN YOGA.

IN MOTIVATION TO BE A TEACHER OF YOGA WHO LEADS WITH AWARENESS, RESPECT, AND INTEGRITY, MADELEINE, PRAKASA FOUNDER, IS NOT SOLELY AN ASANA TEACHER; THE YOGIC EXPERIENCES SHE FACILITATES AIM TO HONOR EVERY LIMB OF THE PRACTICE.

MADELEINE'S YOGA BACKGROUND:

MADELEINE DECIDED TO FURTHER HER OWN YOGA PRACTICE IN 2024 WITH HER FIRST YOGA TEACHER TRAINING, WHERE  SHE COMPLETED A 200+ HOUR IMMERSIVE TRAINING AT THE KRIPALU SCHOOL OF YOGA IN STOCKBRIDGE, MASSACHUCCETTS, LOCATED IN THE BEAUTY OF THE BERKSHIRES. MADELEINE AND HER COHORT LIVED AT KRIPALU FOR ONE MONTH, AND THEN GRADUATED UPON COMPLETION OF TRAINING IN OCTOBER OF 2024. THE COHORT WAS LED BY KRIPALU'S MICHELLE DALBEC AND CHRIS HOLMES.

UPON GRADUATION, MADELEINE BEGAN TEACHING IN JUST ABOUT EVERY ENVIRONMENT YOU CAN THINK OF INCLUDING: NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY CENTERS, BOUTIQUE URBAN STUDIOS, HOMETOWN START-UP STUDIOS, ON YOUTUBE, OVER ZOOM, AND PRIVATELY IN CLIENTS HOMES. AT HER HIGHEST, SHE TAUGHT AN AVERAGE OF 12 CLASSES PER WEEK TO STUDENTS OF ALL AGES, STORIES, AND ABILITY LEVELS. MADELEINE STILL TEACHES IN STUDIO IN ARIZONA.
